New Member Program

The New Member Program of AOII, much like the educational mission of Alpha Omicron Pi, is all centered around a promise. This mutual agreement between new members and AOII helps our organization to grow and flourish, all while ensuring the development and integrity of our members.

The new member class will meet weekly to learn about AOII as they build their sisterhood. During these meetings, they will utilize the AOII membership education manual, The Promise, which provides more about AOII, our history, our policies and our principles.

In addition to learning about AOII, new members will also participate in scheduled Greek Life events and will support their fellow fraternity and sorority organizations’ philanthropic events. A new member retreat is held to allow members to bond as a group through a fun day or overnight trip together. The typical new member period lasts 6 to 8 weeks and is strategically planned to provide members with an exceptional new member experience. The culmination of this period includes AOII initiation preparation activities.

Dear Future New Members,

Once you make it through recruitment comes one of the best days of the year – Bid Day! One excited sister will be holding your name waiting to welcome you into the best sisterhood on row. You’ll learn that to be true soon enough. You now have a second home with about 200 new loving sisters. You now have people to sit with in class on the first day, people to go to Lakeside with, people to pull all-nighters with, and people that will now be there for you for the rest of your life.
I will teach you many things once you start your new member period. You’ll learn about AOII’s history, our symbols, and what we stand for. Yes, there are chapter meetings and philanthropy events and new member meetings, but have I mentioned Wednesday night dinners (best part of our week!)? It seems like a lot to do while balancing school, a social life, and even possibly a job. It’s very possible, and I’ll show you how. My job is to be there for you when you need it, answer your questions, calm your fears. AOII means the world to me and it will come to mean the same to you, too.

Alpha love and mine,

Chrissy Chandler
